Online Mock Test Series for CAT 2016

For any serious CAT aspirant, an online mock test series is an important tool. You need to train your body and your mind so that it is ready to perform on the exam day. There is perhaps no better way to do it than writing mocks in a simulated CAT environment. Till last year, we used to outsource our Mock CAT tests to other providers. This year – we have decided to do it on our own. The main motivating factor behind this was not business (actually, if you look at unit economics – it is a bad business decision) but the hope that this would help us connect with our students in a better way. We would be able to look at their test results / test performances and see how they are doing. Perhaps, we would be able to help them improve once we have access to all that data. Keeping all this in mind, we just started our online mock test series for CAT 2016. Given below are the key features and the frequently asked questions about the same.

Q2. What is the expected difficulty level of these mocks with respect to CAT 2016?
Ans. Same as CAT.
There are way too many mock test series that are available and tend to be a lot harder than what is required. I strongly discourage students to opt for them. While a really hard test series might benefit a few students, it is a much better idea to practice from something that is more realistic. While making the mocks, our goal is to have it as close to the actual paper as possible. Do keep in mind that you need to do roughly 40% of the paper to get a 90%ile and 60% to get a 99%ile. More often than not, doing really hard stuff just ends up wasting your time. It is a good idea to do difficult questions that help you exercise your brain and clarify concepts but we believe – mocks is not the place for the really difficult questions. At least that is the philosophy we are following while making the questions for online mock test series for CAT 2016.

Q3. How will I get access to the mocks?
Ans. Via email
Within 24 hours of making the payment, you would get an email from us on your registered email id. That email will have a link, a username, and a password for you to access the mock test series.

Q4. I had registered for the mocks along with the course. When will I get access?
Ans. You will get an email by Thursday (11th August) with a new login and password for the mocks. If you do not get it by Thursday, please send us an email on [email protected] – we will send it to you.

Q5. Will is be just questions and answers?
Ans. No.
All questions will have detailed solutions and explanations as well.

Q6. Will the mocks have three sections (1 hour each)?
Ans. Yes
Our mocks are based on the latest CAT pattern. The first mock has 100 questions because we expect CAT 2016 to have 100 questions. In case, a notification comes about about any changes in CAT pattern – we will modify our mocks accordingly.

Q7. Will the mocks have direct answer (type in the answer) type questions?
Ans. Yes.
Our mocks are based on the latest CAT pattern. The mocks would have anywhere from 20% to 40% of questions as direct answer type questions.

Q8. Will the tests be online or would I need to go to a center to give it?
Ans. Completely online.
You would be able to give the tests from anywhere with an internet connection.

Q9. Can I give the tests anytime I want?
Ans. Yes
You can give any test any time after we have released it.

Q11. Why is the test series priced so high when there are other websites offering free mocks?
Ans. Pricing of software / content is something that people world around have struggled with. Our online CAT course is priced at 4999 Rs. We thought it would be a good idea to have the online mock test series at a marginal additional cost.

Q12. Why is the test series priced so low when there are other websites offering mocks for 4000 – 8000 Rs?
Ans. Pricing of software / content is something that people world around have struggled with. Our online CAT course is priced at 4999 Rs. We thought it would be a good idea to have the online mock test series at a marginal additional cost.

Ans. No
The prices are already quite discounted as a part of the inaugural offer.

Q14. How many students will be writing these mocks?
Ans. Our guess is anywhere from 200 to 1000.

Q15. But then it won’t be a good comparison with other candidates?
Ans. Yes – you are right. Is it an ideal comparison with other candidates – no. There are three key goals of a test series in our opinion:
a) To analyze and understand your strengths and weaknesses based upon the difficulty level required for CAT – so that you can work on them and improve.
b) To train your body and mind to sit for three hours in a simulated exam environment.
c) To understand where you stand on a national perspective.
While we might score a little low on the third parameter, we are pretty sure of doing well on a and b

Q16. I have already registered for HandaKaFunda Online CAT Course. Do I need to get this test series separately?

Q17. Why should I subscribe to HandaKaFunda Online Mock Test Series over others?
Ans. Primarily because of two things: Content and Support.
Content – We are trying to make the mocks in such a way that they cover a wide variety of concepts. If you go through the entire mock test series and solve all the questions (without the pressure of time), you would surely improve. If nothing else, it would act as a really good refresher tool.
Support – This is where we go the extra mile. Our mock test series is not just a mock test series. It will include live classes for doubt clarification. Suppose you get stuck in a question and your are not able to understand the solution, you can ask that in the live class. The live classes will be online and would be conducted on Sunday. You would get a link to attend them. You would also have the option to ask your doubts via a forum and a moderated whatsapp group.

Q18. I have already subscribed for IMS / CL / TIME Test Series. Does it makes sense to subscribe for this one too?
Ans. May be
If you have already subscribed for two of the above three, there is no need to subscribe for our Online Mock Test Series.
If you have subscribed for IMS or CL, you can give it a thought. Our test series will be able to offer additional value. If nothing else, it would be 1000 CAT level questions given to you in a simulated CAT environment.
If you have subscribed for TIME, we would strongly recommend to give our Mock Test series a try.

Q19. Are you planning to launch mock tests for other exams as well?
Ans. Yes.
We are strongly thinking about a mock test series for XAT as well. It would primarily depend upon the response to the CAT mock test series.
