The Marking Scheme in XAT exam is a little bit different from other exams. First of all, all the questions are of objective type. There are no questions that are of the Type-In-The-Answer variety. This means you have to pick a choice out of 4 or 5 options to mark your answer.
The XAT paper is divided into two parts as discussed in the post on XAT Paper Pattern. Part 1 has Verbal Ability, Decision Making, and Quantitative Aptitude. Part 2 has General Knowledge. Negative Marking exists only in Part 1. General Knowledge portion has no concept of negative marking. What makes XAT different from other exams is the idea that the paper penalizes you not only if you mark an incorrect answer but also if you do not attempt a question. The video and the presentation given below will give you complete details about the marking process but here is a quick summary.
Do have a look at the video, presentations, and examples that follow for more detail.
