Yes. There is negative marking in the CAT exam.
As you would know from our previous post on types of questions in the CAT exam, there are both objective and ‘Type in the Answer’ question formats. While there is no negative marking in the ‘Type in the Answer’ question format, you do get penalized for wrong answers in objective type questions.
So, the key lesson from this post is that you should not blindly guess answers in CAT. It can really harm your overall score because of the negative marking in the objective questions.
