Is Calculator allowed in the CAT exam

Yes – a calculator is allowed in the CAT exam. But this does not mean that you can carry your own calculator in the exam. You will be allowed to use an on-screen calculator like one below.

The on-screen calculator in the CAT Exam will have some basic functions like addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. It will also have a couple of other functions to make your life easier:
a) Reciprocal button
b) Square root button

Let me add, calculators are not of much use in the CAT exam. One basic problem is that you will need to use the mouse to enter values and it makes your calculations a lot slower than usual. The questions that you get in the CAT exam are based on fundamental concepts and are normally not very calculation intensive. In most cases, it would be a lot easier for you to just do the calculation on a piece of paper instead of using the on-screen calculator. I will also like to add that even though you have a calculator in the CAT exam, you should still work on your math skills because you will not have the luxury of an on-screen calculator in other MBA entrance exams.
