Verbal Ability – Parajumble – While you might think that you see or are aware of
Slot – 2 – VA
Q. The four sentences (labelled 1, 2, 3, 4) given below, when properly sequenced would yield a coherent paragraph. Decide on the proper sequence of the order of
the sentences and key in the sequence of the four numbers as your answer.
While you might think that you see or are aware of all the changes that happen in
your immediate environment, there is simply too much information for your brain to
fully process everything.
Psychologists use the term ‘change blindness’ to describe this tendency of
people to be blind to changes though they are in the immediate environment.
It cannot be aware of every single thing that happens in the world around you
Sometimes big shifts happen in front of your eyes and you are not at all aware of
these changes.
Answer: 1342 Solutions:
Sentence 2 with “this tendency”, sentence 3 with “it” and sentence 4 which is clearly a thought extender cannot be the introductory sentence. By the process of elimination we arrive at sentence 1 as the introductory sentence.
Sentences 1-3 are a pair. The pronoun “It” in sentence 3 refers to the brain in sentence 1.
Sentences 4-2 are a pair. The term “change blindness” used in sentence 2 refers to not being aware of changes stated in sentence 4.
Hence, the correct sequence is 1342.
