Quantitative Aptitude – TSD – The distance from B to C is thrice that from A to B
Slot – 1 – Quantitative Aptitude – TSD – The distance from B to C is thrice that from A to B
Q. The distance from B to C is thrice that from A to B. Two trains travel from A to C via B.
The speed of train 2 is double that of train 1 while traveling from A to B and their
speeds are interchanged while traveling from B to C. The ratio of the time taken by
train 1 to that taken by train 2 in travelling from A to C is?
5:7
4:1
7:5
1:4
Answer: 1
Solution:
let the distance b/w A to B = 10x so that of B to C = 30x.
Total time taken by T1 = (10x/v )+(30x/2v ) = 25x/v
Total time taken by T2 = (10x/2v ) + (30x/v ) =35x/v
Required ratio of time = 25x/v : 35x/v = 5:7
