Slot – 3 – Quantitative Aptitude – TSD – A and B are two railway stations 90 km apart
Q. A and B are two railway stations 90 km apart. A train leaves A at 9:00 am, heading
towards B at a speed of 40 km/hr. Another train leaves B at 10:30 am, heading towards
A at a speed of 20 km/hr. The trains meet each other at?
11 : 45 am
11 : 00 am
10 : 45 am
11 : 20 am
Answer: 11:00 am
Solution:
Distance between both trains when 2nd trains about to starts = 90 – 40*(3/2 ) = 90 -60 = 30km
Now this 30 km will be travel by relative speed (40+20= 60) so time taken = 30/60 = ½ hrs = 30 min
Thus the trains will meet at 10:30 + 30 min = 11:00 am
