Slot – 3 – Quantitative Aptitude – Time and Work – A contractor agreed to construct a 6 km

Q. A contractor agreed to construct a 6 km road in 200 days. He employed 140 persons for the work. After 60 days, he realized that only 1.5 km road has been completed. How many additional people would he need to employ in order to finish the work exactly on time?
Answer: 40

Solution:
Man work days needed to complete 1.5 km road= 140*60
So man work days will needed to complete remaining 4.5 km road = 4.5/1.5 *140*60= 3*140*60
Days remains = 200 – 60 = 140
Thus men needed= 3*140*60/140 = 180
Additional men required = 180 – 140 = 40
