Slot – 1 – Quantitative Aptitude – Profit and Loss – A person spent Rs 50000 to purchase
Q. A person spent Rs 50000 to purchase a desktop computer and a laptop computer.
He sold the desktop at 20% profit and the laptop at 10% loss. If overall he made a
2% profit then the purchase price, in rupees, of the desktop is? Answer: 20000
Solutions:
Profit on desktop = 20%
Profit on laptop = -10%
As overall profit = 2%
So ratio of prices of desktop to that of laptop = { 2 –(-10)}/(20-2) = 12/18 = 2:3
Thus the price of desktop = 2/(2+3) *50000 =20000
