CAT 2016 exam was conducted yesterday. A lot of rumors turned out to be just that – rumors. The paper was similar to what was asked in CAT 2015. As a matter of fact, it was a bit too similar. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension was the easiest section like CAT 2015 and Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation was the hardest. Verbal Ability and Quantitative Aptitude was slightly tougher than last year but not too much. The number of Type-in-the-answer questions in the Quantitative Aptitude section went down drastically from 14 to 7 this year but that should not make too much of a difference in my opinion. We spoke to multiple students, looked at CAT 2015 Results / Scores / Percentiles and came up with the analysis given below. Hope you find it useful.
By Big Reading Comprehension Passages we mean the ones with 6 questions each whereas the small ones were with 3 questions each.
One change in the CAT 2016 scoring system was that it moved from +3 for correct / -1 for incorrect to +1 for correct and -0.33 for incorrect answers. For making the tables below we have done is that we have divided last year’s scores with a factor of 3. This should also tell you a little bit about the relative difficulty level of the paper when compared with last year.
I hope that you find this analysis helpful. Please share this
